Happy New Year!
I was watching the Jets game yesterday (next season will be better, I promise), and a great commercial came on. It was by Northwell Health, the new name of New York State’s largest employer, formerly known as North Shore-LIJ. Why did I take note of this commercial? Because, a few months ago, Northwell Health decided to take advantage of our employee engagement and mobile communications solution, theEMPLOYEEapp.
The commercial is awesome – the title is “Happy Birthday Austin Joseph” and it documents the birth of this baby boy at midnight on January 1, 2016.
What relevance does “Happy Birthday Austin Joseph” have to employee communications and engagement? Well, the employees of Northwell Health were the first to have the opportunity to view the commercial through the Northwell Health employee app, even before it aired on television. Northwell Health is using theEMPLOYEEapp as part of its communications effort to explain and educate all of its employees regarding its new name and brand – a major undertaking. By giving their workforce the first glimpse of the new commercial and also providing them with additional exclusive content, Northwell Health is not only increasing employee engagement, but also is building brand ambassadors within their organization.
Northwell Health has appropriately named its employee app, myNorthwell. In addition to sharing information about the rebrand to its most important constituency, Northwell Health is optimizing the distribution of other content and important information like benefits, wellness, discounts and safety to its employees via their mobile devices.
I’m excited to continue to work with Northwell Health in exploring the opportunities available to it in communicating via mobile. I’m excited to see and experience more companies recognize that there is an immediate way to connect with audiences anywhere in the world through the devices that have now become commonplace. And, I am excited to continue to develop our app platform to enable more companies and organizations to have a quick, painless and cost effective way to incorporate mobile into their broader employee communications strategy.
Here’s to a great 2016 and beyond!
