 A new report from workplace technology company theEMPLOYEEapp finds that room for improvement in
strengthening the connection of remote workers to the office.

Incentive: Companies Lack in Supporting Remote, Mobile WorkforceAs remote workers have become a key part of the workforce, organizations are still facing challenges in meeting their needs and ensuring engagement from these mobile workers, a new study finds. A new report from workplace technology company theEMPLOYEEapp finds that mobile usage is only intermittently supported by many companies and that there is room for improvement in strengthening the connection of remote workers to the office.

The study, titled “2015 Mobile Trends in the Workplace,” drew on the responses of 200 American workers, 40 percent of whom said they do not work in a traditional office and 55 percent who said they travel for work. Nearly half of the respondents (49 percent) use mobile devices in order to stay connected to their work, while 28 percent use tablets for the same purpose. However, 70 percent of respondents said they were not provided devices by their employers.

Further, 41 percent of workers reported that they are unable to access company documents and information from their mobile devices while 36 percent said they had trouble accessing company documents from outside the office.

“There is a real divide between how employees want to utilize mobile technology for work and the tools and solutions businesses currently have in place to support them,” said theEMPLOYEEapp CEO Jeff Corbin. He added that the proliferation of smartphones and tablets and their increasing usage in the workplace has made it increasingly important for companies to ensure they are meeting the needs of employees conducting business using these devices.

According to the findings, these concerns go beyond the basic practical needs of workers trying to do their job. The study found a correlation between employees’ engagement and their ability to access company information via mobile devices. Some 62 percent of respondents said that being able to remotely access company information easily affected their level of job satisfaction, while just over half (51 percent) said they were more productive when accessing this information via mobile device.
